This might be a problem
I got a notice yesterday that there was an upgrade for my I pad and phone. I knew that these upgrades would probably take a little time, so I did them when I knew I wouldn't need my phone or iPad... Upgrading the systems seemed to go fine for the iPad... But I had a little bit of a problem for my phone... I couldn't remember which email it was set up with, and what the password was... And you couldn't bypass putting it in. The phone was LOCKED for use until the RIGHT email and password were entered... With my sleep deprived brain, I was having a hard time figuring it out. And I couldn't just ask Josh, because he had already left for work. It took me about a half hour of trying different emails and passwords until I got the right one.

I am the president of a little community pool board. One of my "perks" is an email account for the board president. I don't give out this email address (I'm not even sure what it is), but it is on our pool website for all to see. One of my responsibilities is to check this email every once in a while. I will be honest, I don't check it very often... In fact I'm pretty sure it had been over a year since the last time I checked it. Oops! I finally checked it yesterday. And of course I had a lot of junk mail. And this is what I discovered... When you have a pool that goes by it's initials, and the website address uses those same initials, AND the email accounts use those same initials, AND those initials are VGRA... You get a LOT of inappropriate junk mail!!!

Internet
Our Internet drives me crazy! We have tried many different things to improve it, but some days it just doesn't cooperate. We even pay extra for more IP address (something I need for my work). But some times for unknown reasons, it will just not work with some of our devices... But it will with others... I guess we just have too many "toys" trying to connect to the Internet ;)

Spencer x2
No, the title is not an indication that there are two Spencers, or that I am pregnant. Spencer x2 just means that Spencer is now 2 months old. Not surprising, the time has gone way too fast! I LOVE the new baby stage, and it never seems long enough for me. Thankfully Spencer likes to cuddle! And I have gotten quite good at working and holding him :)
Here are Spencer's 2 month stats!
- 9lbs 6oz - puts him in the 5% range for weight.
- 23 1/2 inches long - puts him in the 75% range for height.
- BALD!!! Except for the old man hair in the back (ok, if you look real close you can see the new hair growing in... But it is still too soon to tell what color it is... Ok it's not going to be black, but hard to say if the red will come back).
- Still blue eyed.
- Smiling more and more each day! Especially if you lay him under the fan... It doesn't even have to be going... He LOVES the fan.
- Trying to make sounds.
- Loves to suck on his fist... As many fingers as he can get in his mouth.
- Really likes the swing. Unless Myra is pushing it for him :)
- Still trying to figure out what formula makes him the happiest, with the least amount of spit up and gas... Have ruled out the gentle formula for fussy/gassy babies.
We LOVE Spencer! So glad that he is our lucky number seven!

I welcome!
I love my two year old. She is so cute. And very polite. She always says please and thank you. And of course "I welcome", her version of you're welcome ;) She will also remind you to excuse yourself if you burp, sneeze, cough, or pass gas. Myra has even reminded me a time or two to excuse myself when Spencer has passed gas :) She sure is cute! Hard to tell her no when she asks if she can please have or do something!

Naps
Why does a nap make my two and a half year old not sleep at night? Savannah took naps up until she was over four. And she would still go to bed good at night. But not Myra. Unless the nap was before noon, and less than an hour, Myra will not o to sleep until after 10... And the later in the afternoon the nap, the later the bed time :( Myra's nap today was WAY late. In fact it was so late that I debated just hoping for her to stay a sleep for the night... That didn't work out for us though, and now Josh is up with a wired two year old (thanks babe)! Man I wish I could take a nap!

What do you do?
With the birth of Spencer, we don't fit in our car anymore. So what do we do??? Around town taking two cars is not a big deal. Josh often meets us places anyways. And more often than not, there is only a few kids with me in the van. But if we want to go anywhere outside of Colorado Springs as a family, we would have to take two cars... And that just seems silly. But my van is paid off... And I love my van! And it is comfortable to drive, and ride in... But we can't go on any trips as a family in the van... So what do we do? We had talked about just renting a bigger car for trips, but I priced it out, and it is EXPENSIVE!!! And if we want to just go up to Denver for the day, it would be silly to have to rent a car... So what to we do???

Everybody! Everybody! Everybody wants to be a cat!
That would be a line from Myra's new favoret show. She discover The Aristocats yesterday, and she LOVES it! As soon as it is over, she asks to watch it again. And crystal when we say no. This evening while watching it, she broke out singing Everybody wants to be a cat. She then went on to explain to Josh that everybody are cats... Except her. She's a Myra :)

Food Fun
Some mornings are are harder for Myra than others... Some mornings she really misses her siblings. This morning was one of those mornings. Brooklyn was playing with Myra before she had to leave for school... Myra cried this morning when Brooklyn left. She was playing with the play kitchen in her toy room, so I went in to join her. She was cute. She would ask me what I wanted, and then get me some "food" to eat. Some of her choices of food were fun :)

Kids
This evening, while I was feeding Spencer, Myra asked if she could "try his nilk". So I let her have a taste from the bottle... I asked her if she liked it and she said no! When I asked her why not she said "It tastes like baby!" :)
A few months back Catalina asked me if we were related to Tinker Bell. I replied "No, Tinker Bell is not real." An outburst of tears followed. I quickly asked Catalina what was wrong. While crying, she stated "Tinker Bell is real! You don't believe in her, now she's going to die!!!" I didn't realize that she thought Tinker Bell real!
I love my kids! They make me laugh :)

Grrrrrrr!
I love my two year old, but sometimes she can make me crazy! Tonight was Savannah's turn for curlers in her hair. Myra decided that it was HER turn tonight too. Savannah was very sweet and pretty patient, and let Myra go first. Myra even sat really good for me for 45 minutes for me to put curlers in. And she looked so cute with them all in her hair. She was tired by the time I finished, so I had her sit by Josh hoping she would go to sleep. But a second wind hit her, and she couldn't sit still any longer. Off she went to play (while I was finishing up Savannah's). And then I here Myra whining... I go to check on her, and sure enough she has taken some of the curlers out (about half). The rest of the curlers came out (because at this point I do not have the patient to put them back in). Ten minutes later when I check on Myra she's a sleep. Ten minutes! If only she would have waited ten more minutes :(

Myra
I love my two year old! She keeps us on our toes! She says the funniest things! Here are a couple conversations from the last few days...
- Scuse you mom!
- That wasn't me, that was little dude
- No! It was you! You farted mom!
- I didn't. It was little dude.
- No!!! It was you! You farted!!!
- I want my turtle back! Baby stole it!

If only...
I use to have a brain... I know I did. I went to collage... And past most of my classes with good grades. But these days I can't remember a darn thing. If I don't write it down I'm in trouble. I hate it when I go to a room to get something, and by the time I make it to that room, I have forgotten what I was going for... The worst is scheduling things out. I'm on a board for a little community pool... I hate when I send out an email asking what three days would work for people to meet for a meeting, only to remember later that some of those days are really bad for me :( Guess I had better get good at writing things down!

What's wrong with this picture?
Unfortunately blogger won't let me upload the picture in question, so I will have to post it to Facebook later.
Myra Loves her little brother. He is HER baby! But I think she is still a little jealous of him too. She climbs into his bed, car seat, swing... She has found she really likes the swing! But it doesn't seem right that she can swing herself :) I think she might be a little too big for it ;)

Pictures
Since I blog most nights on my IPad, I haven't added a lot of pictures. I thougt I'd share some pictures from last year. Tonights pictures are of our trip to Thermopolas last October. Enjoy!

Daddy's girl
Myra LOVES her dad! She loves me too, but she LOVES her dad!!! It doesn't matter where she is, or what she is doing, when Josh walks in the door, she drops everything and runs to see him! She always exclaims "Daddy you home!" She then proceeds to hang onto him until she has gotten enough attention (for the time being). She also loves to do as he's doing (follow, follow, him). This evening as Josh was working out, she decided to join him, copying everything he did. So cute! I love the relationship they have!

King Benjamin
I'm not sure what led to the conversation at dinner, but it ended up on a story about Ben... It happened many years ago (at least three and a half)... We had been reading in the Book of Mormon about King Benjamin... It was a few days after we had read about King Benjamin when our Ben responded to a request to do something with the answer of "I'm a King! I don't have to!" My first reaction was to laugh (and I probably did a little), but then we quickly set him straight.

Knitting again
Since my baby is bald :( I thought that I should probably knit him a hat or two... I started one this evening while Josh and I were watching a little tv (since Spencer was already in bed). But now I need to look for some fun ideas for boys hats!

Memories
I thought I would post a story from pre-family times in my life (you know to make a record of parts of my life)... This memory is from my third year of collage. It was my first year in the paramedic program. It was a Thursday in October or November. We were headed to the Grand Tetons for Search and Rescue. I was sick! I had bronchitis! And I had to go on a map and compass hike in the Grand Tetons... We were separated out into little groups of three people, given a map and compass, and given three different check points to find... It sucked!
The first check point we headed to was on top of a steep peak, that was covered with shale (thin, flat rock that shifts as you walk on it). There was a longer, less steep route up the Mountain, but we did not take it... By the time we reached the first check point, I was ready for a nap :( But I had two more check points to get to, so I did not get a nap...
The second check point was on a different peak covered in knee high grass/weeds... I was so tired hiking up this peak that the two guys I was with decided they need to help me keep going. One of the guys asked right in front of me so I could hold onto his backpack... The other guy walked right behind me lifting/pushing on my backpack to help me up the hill... They even promised me a piggy back ride down the hill if I just kept going... At one point the guys left me to walk up the rest of the peak on my own while they looked for landmarks to figure out where we needed to go... Probably not the best idea... When I got to the top of the peak we were on I couldn't find the guys... So I decided a nap was in order. I laid down right there on the cold hard ground to rest. When the guys got back, they couldn't see me because of the tall grass :)
I survived the day, and I'd like to say it was fun, but really I don't remember it being much fun (it wasn't fun the next year either, but that is a story for another blog). We did get to see a moose and her calf up REAL close (she thought we were a little too close).

We might be done...
I'm afraid it's over... We have tried, but we are just not getting through... I'm afraid our winning streak might be gone forever :(
It has now been eight weeks since Josh beat Woody on the Peak morning show. You can't win off the radio for a month after you win, and that was about when the deejays took their Christmas break. But josh and I have been trying now all week to get through and play again, and have had no luck :(
We upgraded our phones right before Christmas, and the new phones dial slower... Not normally a problem, except when you re trying to win off the radio... We are beginning to wonder if the new phones might be why we can't get through on the radio... How ironic would it be if the more advanced, "smart" phone was the reason we couldn't get through to play "Are You SMARTER Than A Woody"???

Myraology
I love two year old talk. They often say the funniest things. Here are some of Myra's greatest sayings ;)
Daddy you home!
I yaust it! Sorry!
I don't know!
You have a hole in your butt!
I welcome!
You fart!
Scuse me!
Don't fry! Don't fry! Don't fry! Baby don't fry! Don't fry! Don't fry!

Hair today, gone tomorrow...
As a new mom (meaning a mom with a new born, not a first time mom), I always tend to worry more... It starts during the pregnancy, and just continues to get worse after the baby is born ;) In fact Josh and I have had a little joke since our first little baby to help me put things back in reality... Josh will ask me if the baby's head is going to fall off (story for another time)... It's not really a funny statement, but it helps me to calm down some... So it should be no surprise that the rapid loss of hair on my baby has caused me to worry some!
I know that newborns usually loose some or all of their hair... And all six of my other kids have lost a good amount of hair... But never this fast or this young... And so my worry has sent me on a search for answers... And here's what I have found...
1. There are several diseases that cause more than normal hair loss.
2. A couple of those diseases if left untreated can cause brain damage.
3. One of the diseases could leave the person bald forever.
4. Never let a new mom google things in the middle of the night :) Because she will NEVER get back to sleep!!!
Now on a better note... All 50 states test babies at birth for most of these diseases... In fact I think there was only one disease I found that causes rapid hair loss that babies are not tested for. And thankfully that one does not cause brain damage. And when I am being rational, I know that I shouldn't worry too much about Spencer's hair loss, even if he is almost bald.

Odd thoughts
I'm sure this will come across as an odd post, but since it is my blog, I can post whatever I want :)
I LOVE my bathroom! More importantly, the little room with the toilet in it... Like I said weird... But here is why...
In our last house the toilet room in our bathroom was above the garage (along with the rest of the bathroom, and the master bedroom), on the out side wall... In the winter the bedroom and bathroom were always SOOOOO cold! Meaning the toilet seat was always SOOOOO cold.
The toilet room in our new house is Wonderful! It is in the middle of the bathroom/bedroom area.. There are no outside walls near the toilet room... And on top of it all, there is a vent! Even with the vent closed, warm air seeps out warming the little room! On a cold winter morning, it is a nice warm place to hide out ;)

Blessings
Life is good. Sometimes I stop and wonder why I am so blessed. Don't get me wrong, I am grateful for my blessings, but I know I am very blessed. Today we blessed Spencer. After we had our families, and some friends over for a luncheon. It was nice to spend the afternoon with those we love. And I am grateful that we could share it with our families!!!

How will that turn out?
This evening Brooklyn asked me if I could put her hair in curlers so she can have curly hair tomorrow. While I was in the middle of doing Brooklyn's hair, Myra decided that she wanted her hair in curlers too! She even sat still for me to put them in... All six of them... And then she ran off. When she came back, there were only three curlers left in her hair. But she wouldn't let me take them out... And so she sleeps, with three curlers in her hair...wonder how that will turn out tomorrow morning :)

Pirate Eyes
I guess it shouldn't surprise me that Spencer takes after his dad in this matter... All of the kids do... But it always freaks me out a little the first time I see it... Josh and ALL seven of our kids sleep with their eyes somewhat open.
This evening as I sat cuddling Spencer, he drifted off to sleep... Only I didn't realize he was asleep. Because his eyes were still open. Wide open. He just looked like he was zoning out... Until I rubbed down his yes and they stayed closed... Or mostly closed ;)

Party like its... 2012 :)
We had a great New Year's Eve. We had friends come down from Denver and stay with us for a couple days. They came with a fun activity for us to do on New Year's Eve. They had looked up different traditions other countries do for New Year's Eve and then put the activity on a paper in balloons for the kids to pop. They had 10 different balloons to pop during the day. The plan was to pop one each hour starting at 2. We would then do the activity from the balloon. It was so cool. It was fun to do all these different traditions from other countries with the kids.
We also played an epic round of "Hide and go seek in the dark". I think we played for about 4 hours (stopping every hour to pop another balloon). It was fun to have 8 to 12 (13 if you count Spencer) people hiding (some of the girls stopped playing after a little while). But a word to the wise, if you don't want to be the first person found, don't hide with a 1 month old :)

Spencer's one month stats
Spencer has already hit the one month mark. I didn't blog on that day, so I thought I would take the chance today to write down his one month stats!
Spencer is a pretty easy going baby... But I do worry that his little belly and the formula do not get along to well. Unfortunately I did not produce enough milk to sustain Spencer, and we had to supplement... And Spencer didn't take to the nursing thing to well (bottle was easier for him drink from), and so at one month he is a completely bottle/formula baby :(
Spencer's Stats!
7lbs. 7oz.
21 inches long
Red hint to his little fuzz of hair
Still has dark blue eyes
Spencer is a well loved on happy baby! We love having him in our family!

Who shaved my baby's head???
From last night... (I will post more about it tomorrow) Hard to see, but there is hair... |
You read the title right... Someone shaved my bab's head!!! Ok, no one did, but it sure looks like it. I first noticed this morning when I was giving him a bath. I know that babies often rub out some or all of their hair, but I swear his hair was there last night. And now it is gone. :(
His hair is gone :( |
