Matthew 26:69–75. Peter’s Denial of Jesus Christ Read in the institute student manual, Appendix D, “Peter My Brother” (pp. 485–90). Write a one-page paper on what you learn about the Apostle Peter. Choose a characteristic of Peter that you would like to develop. Explain in writing what you would like to do to develop this attribute more in your life. Peter was a great apostle. He loved the Lord, and gave everything to follow Him. He was willing to stand up to an army to defend Jesus, and was willing to give his life for Him. In the student manual it states, “His testimony was as the rock, his faith unwavering.” What an example Peter set for all. He spent his life teaching many. Great were his sermons. He preached countless sermons covering the commandments, and what we must do to live a happier, more fulfilling life, a Christ like life. He was a great leader that was quick to share his testimony. He was unwavering in his faith. In the student manual it states, “When his work was done, his testimony borne, his witness delivered, his numbered days run out, Satan who had long desired him was now permitted to take him in martyrdom. His testimony came from his dying lips.” One of the characteristics of Peter that I want to work on in my life is being a better missionary. I have a strong testimony of the gospel, but I have always had a hard time sharing it with others. I am always worried that I will offend someone by sharing the gospel. I want to get past that. I want to be a great missionary. I want to be that kind of example that Peter was.

Choice 5: John 13:34–35. A New Commandment 1.According to John 13:34–35, how can others know if we are disciples of Jesus Christ? Others can know we are disciples of Jesus if we have love for one another. 2.List some specific ways a disciple of Jesus Christ might respond in the following situations (in accordance with John 13:34–35): oSomeone you know is ridiculed or made fun of because of the way he or she dresses. Ways we can show our love would be to talk to those that are making fun of them and help them to see that they have hurt this person. Another way would be to stand by them no matter what. And most importantly, would to be not to join in on the making fun of the person. You see a new person at church. Going up and meeting the person at Church would be a good way to start. Making sure the person feels welcome and invited to activities is another way. Getting to know the person will also help them to feel more loved. 3.Ponder the question, “Do people know that I am a disciple of Jesus Christ by the way I treat them?” Select a family member, coworker, or neighbor and make a short list of things you can do during the coming week to show him or her the kind of love the Savior would show. Then follow through with what you wrote down. Loving one another can be done in many ways. Ways that I show my love for another is to do service. When we are in the service of our fellow men, we are in the service of our God. Another way I can show my love is to forgive. We cannot truly love someone if we are holding onto hurt feelings or anger. I can also do kind actions for that person to show my love.

He has been around throughout all dispensations of time. The Bible Dictionary states, “The gift of the Holy Ghost is the right to have, whenever one is worthy, the companionship of the Holy Ghost.” 3.Review your list of what the Holy Ghost does. Then write responses to the following tasks: oDescribe how the Holy Ghost helped the Apostles fulfill their missions after the Savior’s death and resurrection. ~ The Holy Ghost helped the apostles in many ways. The Holy Ghost offered comfort to them after the death of Jesus. He also provides testimony of Jesus Christ to those who will listen. oWrite a paragraph about a time when the Holy Ghost blessed you in one of the ways you listed above. Give an example of how the Holy Ghost has inspired you. ~ I have been blessed many times by the Holy Ghost. He has often given me promptings in times of need.

Here is another blog for my class. Enjoy! John 13:1–17; Luke 22:24–30; Mark 10:43–45. The Savior Taught the Apostles about Leadership 1. Study John 13:1–17; Luke 22:24–30; Mark 10:43–45. Write a paragraph or two about how the application of these teachings makes leadership in the Church of Jesus Christ different from what the world usually describes as leadership. The world often looks upon those that are leaders as people that are running things. Someone sitting in their nice cozy office telling others what to do. Jesus was a great leader, but He didn’t sit back and do nothing but dictate. He led by example. He served. Jesus loved the people and wanted to serve them. We can show our love for Jesus by serving others. In Matthew 25:40 we read, “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” By serving others we can find joy in this life. In the New Testament manual on page 160 there is a quote from President David O. McKay about John 13. It reads, “What an example of service to those great servants, followers of the Christ! He that is greatest among you, let him be the least. So we sense the obligation to be of greater service to the membership of the Church, to devote our lives to the advancement of the kingdom of God on earth.” I know that by following Jesus’ example and serving others that we can find the joy we are searching for. 2. Write a paragraph or two about a time when one of your Church leaders or someone in the scriptures served and led in the way Jesus Christ taught. The first example I thought of, in someone serving like Jesus taught, is that of King Benjamin. He was a great ruler among the Nephites. But King Benjamin did not sit back and watch his people, nor did he just sit there telling them what they should do. King Benjamin led his people by example. He went and served them. King Benjamin tried to teach them to be a better people. In Mosiah 2:12, 14-15 we read, “I say unto you that as I have been suffered to spend my days in your service, even up to this time, and have not sought gold nor silver nor any manner of riches of you; (14) And even I, myself, have labored with mine own hands that I might serve you, and that ye should not be laden with taxes, and that there should nothing come upon you which was grievous to be borne – and of all these things which I have spoken, ye yourselves are witnesses this day. (15) Yet, my brethren, I have not done these things that I might boast, neither do I tell these things that thereby I might accuse you; but I tell you these things that ye may know that I can answer a clear conscience before God this day.” What a great leader. King Benjamin served his people because he loved them.

Brooklyn is 10! These years have gone way to fast! Brooklyn is a great big sister to her sisters and little brother. She keeps us laughing. I love you Brooklyn Rose!
