Happy Birthday mom

Today is my mom’s birthday. We stopped by (but stayed 6 feet apart) to drop off a present for her and wish her a happy days. It’s hard to not be able to celebrate together. I have been very blessed with a wonderful mother (and father). I hope she had a wonderful birthday.

Joke from 6 years ago... We had a birthday party for my mom. My mom has never “liked” to tell her age, so she would always say she was 29. Sweet Cat was 6 then, and knew her numbers... Cat was confused... she knew that I was 38, how could my mom be 29? After wondering how that worked, Cat came up with this answer... “Oh I know! She must have hit 100 and started over!”
I don’t think I’ve heard my mom say she’s 29 since 😂

Fourth Sunday

This was our forth week of home based sacrament services. Except this week we didn’t have a sacrament service. It was the first weekend in April, or better known as General Conference weekend.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints hold semiannual conferences each year. They are always the first weekend in April and October. Over the two days we get to hear from General Authorities and others serving in our church. It’s is always spiritually uplifting and a rewarding weekend. This weekend didn’t disappoint. There were so many wonderful talks. And even though it was a completely different experience than ever before (because of COVID 19) it felt like home, like safety and love, like normal. I’m grateful that we were able to watch General Conference as a family from the safety of our home.

We did puzzles during conference

We were invited to join in a world wide fast for COVID 19

What would you do for a bath

What would you do for a bath? This kid (and his sister and friend) would clean a backyard of a months worth of dog poop for three dogs. That’s a lot of poop.

School

First week of E-learning down. We’ve learned a few things and changed a few things. We built a removable wall to keep Spence (what Spencer wants to be called now) and MJ from talking. We finally got a loaner laptop from the school for Brooklyn. We actually got two, but they would have given us 6 😂

Spence’s art work for school.

Goodbye sweet friends

Tonight we said goodbye to a family we have been friends with for a long, long, time. My kids consider their kids siblings. We consider their kids nieces and nephew. We became friends 19 years ago. Back then we both only had one child, and I was pregnant with our second child. Josh Jr and Ashliegh joke that they’ve know each other longer than they’ve known their siblings. It was bittersweet to say goodbye tonight (and sadly Ben was working and missed out).

Stitches for Spencer?

Spencer bit through his lip yesterday while playing outside after school. There was sooooo much blood. After getting Spencer cleaned up and the bleeding (mostly) stopped, I had to decide if he needed to get stitches or not. I felt he probably needed stitches... but I really didn’t want to go to the hospital. We have been staying home and “socially distancing” ourselves from others. I did not want to take my healthy (yet hurt) son to the hospital and expose him to who knows what. I hate taking healthy kids to the hospital under normal circumstances, let alone now with COVID - 19. I was glad I called the hospital to check and see if they had a special place to check injured kids in who were healthy. After talking it through with the nurse we decided that he would probably heal just fine with out stitches. He might have a little bigger scar from it, but I’d rather a little scar than exposing Spencer to some illness.
