Church week 14

Today was week 14 of at home church. I don’t have any pictures (I forgot) but it was still a great week. A scripture from our study today:
Alma 12:10
10 And therefore, he that will harden his heart, the same receiveth the lesser portion of the word; and he that will not harden his heart, to him is given the greater portion of the word, until it is given unto him to know the mysteries of God until he know them in full.
I couldn’t have a post without a picture (I know I already have lots 😂) so here is a picture from last December of my cute family.

Myra had a friend over this afternoon for a play date.
They took advantage of the beautiful weather and enjoyed
the tree deck.

You scream, I scream

We all scream for ice cream!
Throughout the whole COVID lockdown we (the Oakwood primary presidency) have tried to find something fun for our primary kids. My second counselor came across a great idea. Today we had a drive by ice cream social. It was a lot of fun. It was nice to see people we haven’t been able to see for a few months. And of course there was ice cream, so that’s always fun!

Games

Spencer was bored/lonely this afternoon so we played a game. It was a speed monopoly. The only real difference was that once all the properties have been purchased there is an extra dice that makes you do things (like go to your opponents property). Since we started later in the afternoon, the speed version seemed like a good idea. I don’t know if Spencer even need the help. Spencer KILLED me! He landed on all the property (and bought them). He landed on free parking frequently, so he had lots of money.

Let’s go fly a kite

Yesterday was a hard day for me. At least it started out hard. But I didn’t want the hard day to win. So Josh and I decided to take the kids to the park and enjoy the windy afternoon and fly kites. Some of the kids had never flown a kite before (mom fail). But we fixed that. It was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. It helped lift my mood and remind me of how blessed I have been and what wonderful kids I have (not that I ever forget the kids are wonderful)!

Week 13

Today was week 13 of home based church. We had a great church meeting. But today was still a hard day for me emotionally (for reason I’m not up to sharing at this time). We all have those tough days when we sometimes feel like there’s no end in sight. On those day for me it helps to read (listen) to my scriptures and say prayers. Loving, spiritual thoughts help too. Here are a few of the thoughts I’ve come across that have helped me feel God’s love for me. That have helped when I’m struggling to see the good in the day. To see the joy that’s coming. To want to get out of bed. The bad days happen. Sometimes the bad days continue longer than we’d like. But I know that through our Heavenly Father, we can have joy and happiness again.

Cat!

Catalina Jacquelle Case has a birthday today! Happy Birthday Cat! 13 years old! It was a wonderful day. We didn’t get to go mini golfing (like Cat was hoping for) because it rained. But we knew it was going to rain. It always rains on Cat’s birthday. So instead of mini golf we went shopping. It was a fun afternoon with my oldest three girls. This even we had a family dinner (steak yum!) and cake and presents. It was a wonderful day!
We have been so blessed to have Cat in our family!

Two cuties

Josh has to have a conversation with Spencer. It was cute watching them talk (even if it was because of bad choices).

It’s for keeps

Tonight was a sad night. Josh and I went down to our friends house to collect his for sale sign and lock box. Tomorrow our friends will officially not own their house anymore. And where this is a great thing for them, it is a sad thing for me. It means that they really are gone. That they aren’t going to come back. That game nights with our friends that we’ve been friends with for too many years to count won’t be happening. That they no longer live close enough to see on a regular basis.

Magic

I came across this picture today. This is a picture Spencer drew that his teacher shared with us. For those that might be struggling with what he wrote, it says -

My dad is famous
My mom is famous
My sister is famous
My brother is famous

We thought this was interesting. Spencer’s teacher then went onto explain how Spencer shared with her that we were (famous) magicians. And that we would be happy to put on a show for his class. Spencer’s teacher was disappointed when Josh and I explained that we were not, in fact, magicians, nor would we be able to put on a magic show for the class.

When I asked Spencer later why he told his teacher we were magicians, he said “well I knew I couldn’t say you were superheros!”
