Not you too!

I posted several months back (actually almost 9) about a couple of fun days Catalina had (you can read them here http://jandkcase.blogspot.com/2010/09/how-much-trouble-can-one-kid-get-into.html, and here http://jandkcase.blogspot.com/2010/09/yesterday-was-so-much-fun-lets-try-it.html).  I am starting to worry that my sweet little baby is going to follow in her sister's footsteps...  She is not quite one, just barly cut her first tooth, but she sure can get around! And she is also very cute!  Boy are we in trouble!

What do you think?

I haven't posted in a while about the hats I have knitted.  I haven't stopped, I just haven't blogged about them.  I have thought off and on about selling the hats I have made.  But one of the things holding me back is what to charge for the hats.  The material to make the hats isn't really all that much, but the is a bit of time involved to make them.  I'm not sure if the hats would sell for enough to make it worth while.  So what do you think???  How much would a person pay for one of my hand made hats???

How many forms???

I have a new calling at church.  I am on the cub scout committee...  This is the first time I have really done cub scouts...One of my jobs on the cub scout committee is to get the forms filled out when the cub scouts are going to go to something...  I have to say I am surprised at how many forms there are to fill out...  For each boy!  There are 3 and a half pages that have to be filled out, and that is if the event is less than 72 hours...  If it is over 72 hours there is another page!  And they want copies of your insurance cards, and the date of ALL your vaccinations!

I had to track down the parents for 14 boys today!  I only got 1 set of complete forms done...  And that's if you don't worry about the insurance cards.  Do they really need a copy of the insurance card?  I thought about checking the NO insurance box so that I don't have to give it to them.  I just can't believe all the information they need.

I can't believe it's opened!!!

Today would be the last Saturday in May...  That means it is Memorial day weekend!  I guess it could be the last Saturday and not be Memorial day weekend, but that is really rare...  To many people it means a three day weekend...  For others it is a time to reflect... Growing up it meant school was almost done...  But for me now it means the stress should start to recede!  That's right, as of this morning at 10am, the little community pool that I am on the board for opened!!!  We are open for the season!!!

I have to say that it almost seemed surreal.  I can't believe that it has really happened.  As I sat on the deck this afternoon to sign some checks (still have a hard time believing that I have THAT much responsibility), I was amazed.  Everything looked great!  The water was a beautiful blue.  There were kids playing on the play ground, people BBQing by the pavilion, and of course families swimming in the pool...  It was great!

I have to add that my kids were quiet put out that I did not take them swimming today, and I have had to promise a dozen times, that YES we would go on Monday!  If you are in Colorado Springs you should stop by...  There is an open house this weekend only from 1pm until 4pm Saturday (to late for today...sorry), Sunday, and Monday the pool is open to all for free!  So come try it out!  It's a great little family pool!

Josh Jr. Graduated!

Josh Jr. graduated from 5th grade today!  I can't believe that he is old enough.  It seems like yesterday that he started Kindergarten.  They had a slid show during the graduation, and each 5th grader had the chance to make part of it.  After their classes portion was done on the slide show they got their diplomas.  Each kid for their class then went and stood on the stage while the rest of their class got their diplomas...  At the end the kids got to dance to a song they had picked out.  Watching Josh Jr. dance on the stage with his friends brought tears to my eyes...  I could imagine him two and a half years from now at a stake dance...  Trying to dance and not look to nervous.  Time goes Way too fast.

After the ceremony we all went over to the park next to the school for a BBQ.  Josh Jr. got to spend the afternoon with his friends enjoying his last day of school...  I ended up staying at the park a LOT longer than I had planned...  And I didn't put sunblock on...  I ended up with a nice little burn to start this summer out with...  And Myra, who I kept out of the sun ALL day long got a burn in the quick walk home :(

It was a great day!  Congratulation Josh Jr!!!

Field Day!

Today was field day for my oldest three...  That's right, they call it field day, because there are NO real track event...  At least this year they did actually do a form of a relay...  But jump roping, hula hoop jumping, tire toss...  Those would not qualify for track events...

Their field day was suppose to be this last Tuesday. That did not happen when everyone woke up to heave rains...  This morning was chilly, and this afternoon was windy...  Not sure which was better :)

I think that the kids all had fun, and a few got a little pink :)

Thanks for that!!!

Tonight Ben had an end of the year potluck for school. It was at the park next to the school.  It actually turned out to be a nice night weather wise.  We had an enjoyable time that  at the potluck, and then we decided to continue our "walk" and go over to Grandma Julie and Grandpa Jerry's house...  We visited for a few minutes before we headed home... And that's when Brooklyn informed me that she could run faster than me...  She's probably right :)  It was not too many minutes later that I was walking with Catalina and she informed me that "You're not the smartest person, Mommy!"

Not again!!!

I went down stairs this morning to wake up the kids, and then I thought I had better check the window that is know to flood when it rains very hard.  And wouldn't you know it...  The window was dry!  However it had a little mouse down inside :(  This is not the first time, and I am beginning to think it wont be the last time...  The last time it happened the kids and I spent most of an afternoon cheering on the little guy as he would run up the screen and try to launch himself out of the window well.  That evening when Josh got home from work he rescued the poor little mouse with a ladder for him to climb out on...  When Josh Jr. informed Josh that there was a mouse in the window well again, he went and made a ladder again...

The kids started debating whether or not it was the same mouse as before...  I decided that it was not, because even though Josh had put the "ladder" down in the window well for the mouse, the little guy kept trying to run up the screen and jump out of the window well!  I think the big kids were a little sad that they had to run (literally) off to school and couldn't see the little guy escape...  Now one saw him escape...  He took too long to figure it out!  Let's just hope he figures out a way to NOT fall in the window well again...

And on a not so great side note: Josh Jr. went out side later this afternoon to make sure the mouse had really gotten out...  The mouse had, but Josh Jr. said that he saw a mouse close to the window well, still in the back yard...  YUCK!  Now I am going to worry about them getting into the house!

Sleep

When I woke up this morning my first thought was that Myra had slept through the night... again...  That would make three days in a row!  And then I thought that maybe Myra was finally learning that it was OK to sleep through the night... And at 11 months she SHOULD sleep through the night.

It was only a few minutes latter when Myra started to fuss... I went to go fix her a bottle, because you know she had been a sleep for the WHOLE night, and it had been 10 hours since she had last eaten....  It was at this point that I noticed there was a new can of formula out...  I made Myra her bottle, changed her butt, and went to lay back down, because even though Myra had been a sleep for over 9 hours, it was still an hour before my alarm was going to go off...

I went back to sleep, but later when I was up and Josh was awake I asked Josh if he had been up with Myra...  He stated that he had for a little bit...  Like an hour or two...  It was at this point that I thought to ask if he had gotten up with Myra Saturday night as well...  And he had...  And so I asked about Friday night....  Yep!  Josh was up with Myra Friday night too!

So very sweet of Josh to get up with Myra!  I guess I really needed the sleep...  But it sure ruined my excitement about her sleeping through the night!

Doughnuts!

Josh and I have tried a few times in the past to make doughnuts...  They have always turned out, but we were never really happy with the taste.  They were more a cake doughnut, and we were hoping for a raised doughnut taste...  I had a friend post last week that she had tried making doughnuts, and that they had turned out great.  Luckily for us she shared the recipe.  Today we tried this new recipe...  And they turned out great, but better yet they have more of the taste we are looking for...  Not too sure about the glaze we did (I think I messed it up some where along the way).  But over all we are excited to try this recipe again soon...  The only problem will be having all these doughnuts around...  If only someone liked doughnut :)

Take a Picture of my back side

Getting the swimming pool ready
Can't believe it opens next Saturday!

It has been a picture kind of day!  It started in the wee hours of the day with me taking a picture of Josh's shirt (this before we went to bed).  The day continued with me taking all sort of pictures... but the best was when Josh asked me to take a picture of the back of his shirt...  Brooklyn thought it was funny that I took it of his butt :)

Here a few of the pictures from today...

Long Day

What do you get when you put one sick baby up late last night + one mommy up late with sick baby, not feeling too well???  One LONG day!  I'm just glad that the little girls are done with preschool and that I didn't have to take them to school...

Preschool Picnic!

Savannah with her "book"
Catalina
Yesterday was the last day of preschool for Savannah and Catalina!  The preschool went to the park by the school for a picnic.  Luckily it did not rain, however it was still VERY cold.  The picnic didn't last but an hour.  The girls got to play with their friends, take pictures, and get things from their teachers.  I am glad we could go, even if it was a little sad.  Here are some of the fun pictures from the day :)

Myra the day
we came home from the hospital

11 months ago I had a tiny little baby girl in my arms...  While she is still little, she is quite a bit bigger today.  She's is not a little baby any more.  I can't believe how fast it has gone!  We celebrated Myra turning 11 months by going to the park for a picnic for Savannah and Catalina's last day of preschool (OK we went for Savannah and Cat not Myra).  It was a beautiful Colorado day (windy and cold!), so we only lasted an hour before we came home.  I will post more about it tomorrow...

Here is the "run" down on Myra

A little blurry
because she is walking to me

Myra is turning into a little mess maker :)  She loves to go, go, go and she is fast.  Her crawling is reaching break neck speeds :) She has even figured out how to bring things with her as she crawls...

But crawling is not good enough...  Myra took her first step on the 22nd of April.  Since then she has just tried again and again...  She is now up to 7 or 8 steps at a time before she falls over.  Her sisters love to "help" her walk all the time...

Myra love to eat.  She will eat just about anything...  Not the little dried apple baby treats though...  those she spits back out...

It is sad to admit, but I'm not sure how much Myra weighs.  She has been mostly healthy, and so there is no need to go to the doctor... I will have to weigh her next time we are at grandmas.

Myra LOVES the bath!  She gets so excited when I start the water...  Lets hope she likes the pool as much...

We have learned that Myra burns VERY easy!!!  She will get a burn in the ten minutes it takes to walk to and from the school...

Pretending not to
listen to me
Myra's hair is still slow on growing...  It is getting a little thicker, but there is still not so much...  However it is still red!!!

Myra still has blue eyes...  We don't have a blue eyed girl yet, so we will see if it holds out...

Myra is suck a happy loved baby.  I am so glad that she is part of our family!

A nice night for a walk...

Myra ready to go

That was last night.  It was a perfect night to go for a walk, and so we did.  We walked all the way to Grandma, and Grandpa Case's house!  OK we took the short cut, but Josh thinks it was still about 3 miles round trip.  Not too bad on my bum foot...  Here are a few fun pictures...

Walking!

My baby decided this evening that she was done walking holding on to things...  She has taken a step here or there. The first one being on the 22nd of April...  But this evening she decided to walk across the room...  Not the WHOLE room, but 6 or 7 steps...  Later she walked several step, then turned and walked several step the other direction...  I can't believe how fast my baby is growing up!
