Sorry mom

Savannah was working on her homework this evening. She needed to draw a picture of our family. While drawing the picture she stated..."Sorry mom! You only have one eye." What??? :)

Eeeewwww

I was giving Josh a hug the other night after dinner.  Catalina started to chant "Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!"  Not wanting to disappoint her, we kissed...  In which she immediately responded with "Eeeewwwww Yuck!"  And then laughed :)

Pinewood Derby

Ben had his last pinewood derby the other night...  Kind of sad.  Our last boy's last pinewood derby...  Ben's car did fine, he had had a little problem with his wheels early on, and that kind of slowed him down some.  But over all Ben had a good evening.  Good Bye pinewood derbies!

Spelling

The older kids were spelling this evening... One of the words they were spelling was Mississippi... Ben had spelled it a couple of times when out of nowhere I hear Catalina say..."You just said pee pee!" And then she giggled :)

All most time

Many of you know that I won a cruise off the radio oh so many months ago...  At one point I wondered if it would actually happen.  But the time has come, and so very soon Josh and I will be headed off to enjoy our winnings!  We booked a room in Miami tonight, and figured out what we want to do as far as excursions go.  So excited!!! 

Climber

It seems like each of my younger children have learned to climb higher, and faster than the ones before.  Myra has not failed us in that.  She LOVES to get into things, and NOTHING can/will stop her.  If she can't reach, she will find something to stand on!  She has a new favorite spot to play when we are hanging out down stairs :)

And so it begins

I recieved a call this evening for Josh...  And for the first time, I wasn't sure which "Josh" they wanted, and had to ask... "Josh Sr. or Jr.?"  And so it begins...  Maybe we didn't think this whole junior thing through :)

Sometimes knowing too much can be bad

In college I studied Paramedicine... And even though I never actually worked as a paramedic (for money... cause I did plenty of work for free), I still find it very usefull. But there are often times in my life that I wonder if too much information might be bad. I don't have an X-ray machine, or X-ray vision. I don't have a heart monitor. And most of my studies had to do with emergency type scenario, not sprains or fevers. As a mom, sister, aunt, daughter, friend, I have had many opportunities to use my schooling. Fortunately most of the situations were not life threatening. But I am a worrier, and I have often found myself worrying over a sick child or friend. And when I am worrying ALL my schooling comes rushing back to me... Causing me to worry all the more.

Lately after I change Myra I will hand her the diaper and ask her to put it in the trash.  She always is excited to help, and runs off to throw it away.  Today I discovered WHERE she has been putting the diapers...

Luck be a lady tonight

It is hard to argue with the fact that I am one lucky lady. That's right I won again! Nothing big today, just $25 at a steak house, and four free servings at ITOP IT. But hey that's a date night plus some. I love winning! I just hope my luck holds out :)

Food

A while back Catalina did not want to eat her food.  She gave me a dozen different reasons to why she couldn't/shouldn't eat her food.  My favorite was ~ "I can't eat my food, it tastes like Myra's germs!"

I took my kids to Palmer Park on Saturday after we got the house all clean.  The kids all love to climb on the rocks as high as they can go.  Here are a few fun pictures :)

Night time fun?

I hate UTIs! I might have mentioned this before :) I was up many hours last night because of one (even though I had taken meds). When I first got up Myra was tossing, turning, kicking, sleeping in my bed... I'm not totally sure when she got there... I had hoped that she would just stay a sleep when I got up... But I was not so lucky :( She quickly got out of bed to follow me. And so she sat outside the bathroom door waiting not so patiently for me. Amazingly Josh slept through the whole thing! And Myra cried for a while :( When I was finally able to come out of the bathroom I found my smart little girl sitting in the midst of a huge blanket that she had pulled to the door to sit on. It was so cute (even though she was a sad little girl) to see her just sitting there in the blanket :) When I had to visit the bathroom again later, she was quick to follow me back to her blanket (even though I thought she was good and a sleep again)! Love my bathroom buddy!!!

Hide and go seek in the dark

Tonight we played a round of hide and go seek in the dark. We started playing this game with the boy back when Brooklyn was just a little baby. I use to hide with her, and have to try and keep her from crying so I wouldn't be found... This evening we only got in three rounds (which is about normal for the game) before the younger girls were too scared to play any more... Brooklyn and Catalina were the last ones searching for the night. Now I love my girls, but they are terrible searchers. I won't say were I was hiding(because they never found me and I plan to hide there again), but they searched within inches of me, but did not find me... Later on Josh had moved from his spot to right next to me... The girls came back to were Josh and I were, and not only did they not find us, but they got VERY scared by who knows what. Josh and I finally moved from our hiding spot so that the girls could find us (even thought Josh was in PLAiN sight (except that there were no lights on). It was a fun night of hide and go seek in the dark!

Dinner and a show

Tonight I went to a murder mystery dinner theater with my sister for her birthday. It was a lot of fun! We had to write down a "fake" name for the evening. Along with the fake name I had a fake occupation. I thought that we were all making up fake occupations, but later in the evening the lady sitting next to me was asking me questions towards my fake occupation to help her son's girlfriend find a job... I didn't really know what to say. It was my fake occupation!!! But over all it was a lot of fun! Really good food, and very entertaining!

That kid cracks me up!

I love watching my baby play!  She is at the stage where she has to try everything.  The other day she was playing with a Little People doll, and she was dropping it off of the couch and making screaming noises for it as it fell.  This evening she was playing with her "new" Little People school bus (that is missing a door).  She was filling it full with all the Little People from the Nativity set.  Except that there was no door to hold the people in...  So she would drop two or three people in and two or three people would fall out :)  But she kept right on trying to get them all in.  Finally she gave up and turned the bush over and dumped EVERYONE out!  Too cute!!!

How many times???

Don't get me wrong... I appreciate the schools making sure we know that the kids don't have school tomorrow and Monday, but how many times do they need to let me know??? Because we are standing at 7 times for the 4 kids...

Funny Sleeping

Myra decided she was ready for bed last night while we were saying prayers...  She found a great place to fall a sleep too!  :)

You're Grounded!

My sweet sister-in-law watched my two youngest kids, and my day care kid today so I could go to a funeral...  It was very sweet of her.  Catalina knew that her Aunt Jaimee was going to watch her today. When she had asked what time she would be going to her Aunt's, I told her it wouldn't be until all the other kids had gone to school.  Well I guess she took it to mean that the second the other kids walk out the door, we were going to leave!  Because as soon as those kids were gone, she started to hound me on going.  A smallish fit ensued (OK actually a really BIG fit...  like for an hour...)!  At one point during her fit she informed me that the next time she was at Grandma Penny's house (my mom), she was going to let Grandma know that she needed to ground me!  I had not taken Cat to her Aunt's at the right time and so I needed to be grounded.  She then informed me that my mom was still my mom, and that she could indeed still ground me!  So I guess I'm grounded :)

Savannah's Booboo

We got a call from the school nurse again today :(  But this time it wasn't for a maybe pink eye, or maybe fever...  Savannah had fallen off of some playground equipment (she couldn't remember which one...) and her tooth went through... not her lip, not her cheek, not her chin...  I'm not really sure what you would call it...  It was just below her lip down toward her chin.  The school nurse wasn't sure if we would want to take her home or not, or really what we should do...  I decided to take Savannah out of school for the rest of the day.  And luckily, because it was a clean cut, Savannah didn't need any stitches.  So she got to go out to lunch with Josh and me instead :)

Goodbye Christmas!

We normally undecorate our house on New Years day.  But last Sunday both Josh and I took naps, and so the undecorating got left to today.  Josh and the kids did most of it today (while I was at a meeting or napping :)).  The house looks empty now.  So weird!

Shoes

Myra LOVES shoes!!!  You can often find her wearing someone elses shoes (or boots) :)

Sick

I posted the other day about taking my kids to say goodbye to my mom's dog (dog is actually doing better).  Today Catalina asked if she could go to her grandma's house.  When I told her she couldn't because her grandma was sick she replied... "I bet I she got sick because of Trixie (the dog)!"  To cute!

Sad :(

Sad, sad day :(  This evening we went over to my mom's house for dinner (that part was not sad)...  We mostly went so that my kids could say goodbye to my parents dog Trixie :(  Trixie's health is failing her, and it doesn't look like she will be here much longer.  My kids all want to have a chance to say goodbye before that happens.  It was a very long sad evening.  This is really the first time any of them remember losing a pet.  My parents have had Trixie since Josh Jr. (who is 12) was Myra's age (18 months old).  My kids will really miss the good dog :(

Kids

I'm not sure if I should be concerned or not...  I have two little girls, who I think might have eating problems...  One little girl hides her food, so that she doesn't have to eat it...  The other little girl takes food and hides it for later...  Not sure why they are doing this...  Weird kids :)

How much stuff do you need?

While trying to find coupons for a fun activity today I searched Brooklyn's backpack...  I found papers in it from AUGUST!!!  It was stuffed full of ALL sorts of things.  Along with a PILE of things thrown away, I also found...

The new year is off to a great start!  I even got a nap into today after church!  I discovered as I was coming out of the napping zone, that Savannah (my 6 year old) thought it would be a great idea to paint Myra's fingers!!!  Needless to say the nail polish has all been confiscated...  Here are some fun pictures from today though :)
