Saturday - Cozumel

Today was another excursion day. Thankfully it didn’t start as early as Friday, we even got breakfast 😜
Today we didn’t have an excursion planned through the boat. It was one Josh and I found online. But the excursion didn’t come with transportation to the park, so we had to find a taxi.
After a quick breakfast we headed into Cozumel. We quickly found a taxi to Chankanaab park for the day. Chankanaab was an amazing park. There was more things to see and do than we had time for. We spent a little time walking through the park before we changed into swimsuits and headed to the beach. Unfortunately this beach didn’t have zero entry areas (except for a little “tide pool” for younger kids). And unfortunately there was a storm coming in causing a strong current. After playing on the “beach” for a little while we headed over to the meeting place (a light blue umbrella) for the main reason we came to this park... Swimming with Dolphins!!!
Years ago I took the oldest three kids to Florida... We went to Disney World,  as well as Sea World and Discovery Cove. While at Discovery Cove I swam with Dolphins (along with my sister, brother, and parents). Josh jr couldn’t swim with the dolphins that day because he wasn’t old enough. He was not happy. And he made us promise to bring him back sometime so he could swim with dolphins. We haven’t made it back there, but I was happy that we could still full fill his want of swimming with dolphins.
A little after 1pm, seven of us (Josh and Savannah didn’t want to swim with dolphins) got fitted with life vests for swimming. Then we were taught different signals for the dolphins. It was around this point that Savannah and Josh headed off to find a place to store all the stuff we left them with. It was also about this point that Spencer changed his mind about swimming with dolphins. But Spencer was stuck. I couldn’t just leave him, and I had know idea where Josh had gone. So he got drug out to the pier where we were swimming with the dolphins. Spencer ended up sitting in the stairs down to the pier while we swam.
The dolphins experience was amazing. Way better than my last experience. We all got to do several different interactions with the dolphins before we swam with them including, kiss on lips, kiss on cheeks, nose to hand, petting, and dancing. Then we each got to swim out and be towed back in (belly to belly) with a dolphin. We also go to go out with a boogie board and have the dolphins push us back in (sooooo fast). It was amazing!!! I highly recommend swimming with dolphins at this park. It was just our little family so it wasn’t crazy and boring. The only bad part was the strong currents and waves that were hitting our backs. We had to hold on to the fence (and each other) to keep us on the pier. But the things we were able to do were so cool!

After we finished at Chankanaab park we headed back to the docks and international markets were we could do some shopping. We all split up into groups of two or three to make it easier for everyone to find what they were hoping for. Thankfully we already predetermined a meet up time and place on the dock (before getting on the boat) since I discovered I left my driver’s license in Josh Jr.’s backpack 😬

The rest of the day was fun back in the boat. There was food (with Dondon) and games, karaoke, late night dancing (Junior trying time be a good wing man for Savannah and the cute boy) and more games, and a little sea sickness cause that storm that was coming in while we were on Cozumel hit hard. They even had to close all the access to the decks that went outside.  But overall it was another amazing day!
