Trying to Make Memories!

Balloon Glow 2010

Josh Jr.
Blogging all the time has help point out something to me (not that I didn't already know, but it just reaffirmed it).  Time goes by WAY (!!!!!) too fast.  Just for an example... we have owned our new home for over 6 months now! Really!  6 months now!  And my sweet little baby is already 2 and 1/2 months old.  Our "new" van we just got... 18 months ago.  Brooklyn is 7! See what I mean... time goes WAY too fast!

With time going Way too fast, I have realized that you have to make memories now!  Before its too late.  Josh Jr. is almost 11.  He is going to hit the stage where it's not so cool to be with the family sooner than I'd like.  So memories we'll make.

Brooklyn
Yesterday I tried to make some memories...  Brooklyn and I met Josh for lunch.  Just Brooklyn... No other kids.  I thought Brooklyn might enjoy lunch out with Josh and me all by herself.  I think she loved it... but we didn't get ice cream... and she thought that I was going to take her to get her nails done (she has Never gotten her nails done before at a "store"), so she was a little sad.

Last night we went to Memorial park to watch the Balloon glow.  Still trying to make memories...  We have only done the balloon glow once before.  Three years ago... and it was too windy to actually do the balloon glow.  They did light up their baskets but there was no balloons.  But it was still cool to see.  And we thought that it would be fun to do again sometime... but we haven't gone back... until last night.

I started thinking yesterday afternoon that it might be a good night to go to the balloon glow.  But life happens, and it wasn't really thought out or planned.  At the last minute we decided to go...  And off we went.

We got down town before the time the glow was suppose to start... along with everybody else.  It was packed!!!  I think more people were at the balloon glow than the morning event when the balloons actually go up.  And it was dark!  So we quickly found a place to park our family...

Maybe it is just us, but I always try not to be in the way of others... There are a lot of people out there that don't really care.  I was amazed at how many different people would just stop right in front of us and STAND there watching the balloon glow.  Really!  There is eight of us... Could you not see us?
Rude people's butts

It was a great night (weather wise), you didn't even need a jacket!  And the balloons were able to go up and be lit.  And it was beautiful.  I would love to go again.  But next time I will plan a little better.  And we will go a lot earlier.  So that we can find a place to sit while there is still light.  And somewhere with out a sign that say "Stop here... Take a picture... Stand right in front of these people, they weren't looking at anything!"
Balloon Glow

My little girls kept asking when the balloons were going to go up.  I told them Monday morning :)  So I'm planning now.  We are going to watch the balloons Monday morning.  All who would like to join us may.  We will be leaving early so that we can get to the park by 6:00- 6:15am.  I'd offer for you to ride with us... but our car is full :)
Hopefully we'll be able to make some more memories.  Hopefully they will be happy (you never know at that time of morning).  But I'd like to think that my kids will look back on these days when they are older and only remember the good, not the bad that comes with making memories.  Because no matter how hard you try, and how much you plan... not everything will go the way you hoped.  But I will never stop "Trying to Make Memories"!

  1. Excellent post Pretty Lady! The weaher sure was nice and for the most part the kids were awesome despite the rude-butt people. Lunch with Brooklyn was very nice too. Thanks for thinking of that.
Looking forward to many more years of memories with you and the kids!

  2. Karen, I totally know what you mean about trying to make memories, even though it usually takes a whole lot of work and planning to pull it off! It's worth it. I hope you guys had fun at the balloon classic this morning.
